Apply for Housing

All applicants for Public Housing and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program must successfully complete the screening process (income eligibility, criminal background check and prior HUD program participation) in order to be housed or issued a voucher. Public Housing applicants will also have their applications screened for prior landlord and credit history.

Wait time and wait list position are determined by the date and time the application is submitted and by the preference or preferences the applicant qualifies for. Preferences will be verified during the screening process.

**VETERANS** – If you have served in the Armed Forces & are in need of housing assistance, please contact Veteran Affairs at 865-670-2369. You may qualify for a special VASH voucher.

Income limits are set by HUD. (see table below.) Persons wanting to live in our Public Housing must have a gross income at or below the “Low Income” limit for the appropriate family/household size.

Persons wanting to enter our Section 8/HCV Program must have a gross income at or below the “Extremely Low” limit for the appropriate family/household size.
